#1737 Accounts Payable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews all vouchers for payment and prepares invoice deduction notices, as necessary.
Manages all vendor payment inquiries.
Analyzes vendor accounts and negotiates extended terms with vendors when cash is restricted.
Prepares accounts payable checks.
Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
Prepares analysis of vendor accounts, as required.
Assists in monthly closings.
Assists with accounts receivable and special projects, as necessary.
Verifies, allocates and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or
computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs and computer printouts.
Summarizes details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger.
Reconciles and balances accounts.
Compiles reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and
receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
Prepares tax reports with the exception of payroll.
Completes records to or through trial balance.
Coordinates with two supervisors who supervise a total of five employees in the Accounts Receivable
Department and Payroll Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to create reports using Windows95/Word and Excel.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
