Job Duties
International Freight Forwarding Operations
- Coordinate ocean, air, and inland transportation shipments
- Provide customer service and contractor control
- Handle export operations (booking, transportation, documentation)
- Handle import operations (arrival notice, transportation, documentation)
- Prepare documentation for customs entry of import/export
- Create quotations and invoices
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule air and/or ocean bookings for international shipments and manage the full process from start to finish
- Ensure complete and timely freight delivery by gathering client requirements and completing paperwork accurately
- Process shipment data in the company’s system while coordinating with air, ocean, and trucking companies
- Request and negotiate freight quotations (including container capacities, packing dimensions, weights, and coding)
- Understand the full range of international freight forwarding services such as cargo movement, customs brokerage, monitoring, and cost optimization
- Compose and edit professional business correspondence and reports
- Provide excellent and timely customer service under the supervision of the department supervisor or manager
- Communicate shipment status updates to clients and escalate issues as needed
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Experience in logistics, transportation, or freight forwarding preferred (training available)
- Excellent communication, customer service, and negotiation skills
Language Skills
- English and Japanese (Business level)
Computer Skills
- Proficient in Google Chrome (Gmail), Microsoft Excel, and Word
- Basic math skills for freight measurement, weight calculations, and international unit conversions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve issues promptly
- Familiarity with domestic and international geography (countries and major cities)
