SUMMARY:

An Inside Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales from existing and prospective customers while increasing account penetration and market share. Client interactions may include program presentations, customer follow-up, and end-user sales support. This position does not have negotiation or final decision-making authority.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  • Under the direct supervision of the Branch Manager and/or Assistant Sales Manager, support the outside sales team and proactively grow the customer base.
  • Generate qualified sales opportunities by researching and compiling lists of prospective customers through business directories, internet research, networking, referrals, and other sources.
  • Conduct cold calls to prospective customers generated through external lead sources.
  • Identify key decision-makers within target organizations to begin the sales process.
  • Develop and expand relationships within existing accounts to increase sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Customer Support staff to monitor transactions through completion, including collections, and assist in resolving discrepancies or changes throughout the process.
  • Maintain and expand the prospect database while overcoming customer objections and identifying new opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of products and services, consulting with Quality and Production departments when necessary to support customer needs.
  • Assist in preparing RFP (Request for Proposal) responses for potential clients.
  • Conduct outbound follow-up calls and emails to existing customers.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries and convert prospects into customers.
  • Explain product and service features and benefits, provide pricing information, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales orders and reports.
  • Enter new customer information and update existing account records within the company database.
  • Conduct customer presentations to promote sales growth opportunities, independently or alongside outside sales representatives.
  • Attend sales training sessions, demonstrations, trade shows, conventions, and meetings as directed by management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • University or college degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to generate leads, qualify opportunities, and close sales while meeting established sales goals.
  • Experience with opportunity qualification, account development, pre-call planning, call management, and time management.
  • Demonstrated success working with multiple decision-makers throughout the sales process.
  • Knowledge of retail and/or wholesale sales principles, practices, and techniques is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and objection-handling skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic with a professional attitude.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment screening requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in an environment that utilizes industrial liquids and solutions while following appropriate PPE requirements.
