We’re assisting with a global agribusiness firm in the starch and grain industry, currently seeking a Bilingual Commodity Trader / Interpreter to lead U.S. grain trading operations and support global business development. Based in Champaign, IL, this role involves procurement, logistics management, interpretation, and market analysis within the corn industry. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership potential with a clear path toward executive responsibilities in the future.

Responsibilities:

Purchase grain in the U.S. at the best possible price while considering quality, type, and logistics.

Oversee storage and transportation from point of origin to delivery overseas.

Provide interpretation between Japanese and English during meetings with trading partners and internal stakeholders.

Collect, analyze, and translate U.S. corn market data into Japanese.

Support international sales and marketing of newly developed products.

Manage and mentor a small team of junior professionals.

Coordinate daily with overseas headquarters during morning hours (Japan time).
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or related field.

10+ years of work experience with demonstrated leadership ability.

Native-level proficiency in Japanese and English (N1 or equivalent).

Experience in grain trading, finance, or investment banking strongly preferred.

Knowledge of foreign exchange and CBOT futures/options trading.

Strong background in sales and training (beyond operational tasks).

Authorized to work in the U.S. and willing to relocate to Champaign, IL.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and team leadership skills.
