FSQA Department Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain all Quality Assurance and Food safety records, documents pertaining to HACCP, USDA (FSIS), FDA, and TX Health Department.
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory agents such as USDA Inspector, FDA Auditor, VA state Inspector and customer auditor.
  • Develop and Implement HACCP plans (RTE/NRTE) for products.
  • Ability to prepare and directly manage customer audits and Product RECALL.
  • Work with customer QA team and provide CAPA on customer complaints.
  • Oversee inspection of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods.
  • In charge of initial and ongoing training of the employees.
  • Work with internal and external sources to continually check quality of the product and inspection of plant sanitation.
  • Work with customer and FSIS Inspector for current and new product label(s) approval.
  • Ensure the USDA regulatory requirements for Food Safety are continuously and successfully met.
  • Organize and maintain FSQA documents, procedures and supervise FSQA Team.
  • Conduct shelf-life study for new products and ingredients.
  • Work closely with third party sanitation teams for SSOP implementation.
  • Guide the development, implementation and compliance of all HACCP programs.
  • Evaluate current Food Safety programs to established standards and adjust programs to conform with regulatory changes or internal modifications ensuring conformance is relevant.
  • Able to investigate a product/process failure, determine the root cause and take prompt corrective actions.
  • Implement and develop necessary sanitation verification activities.
  • Develops and fosters a strong working relationship with the USDA/FSIS.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in food industry quality assurance or related experience.
  • Progressive knowledge and experience with government regulations. (FDA, USDA, Food Defense, Food Code & Crisis Management).
  • Certifications: HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation and GMP.
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
