FSQA Department Responsibilities
- Review and maintain all Quality Assurance and Food safety records, documents pertaining to HACCP, USDA (FSIS), FDA, and TX Health Department.
- Coordinate activities with regulatory agents such as USDA Inspector, FDA Auditor, VA state Inspector and customer auditor.
- Develop and Implement HACCP plans (RTE/NRTE) for products.
- Ability to prepare and directly manage customer audits and Product RECALL.
- Work with customer QA team and provide CAPA on customer complaints.
- Oversee inspection of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods.
- In charge of initial and ongoing training of the employees.
- Work with internal and external sources to continually check quality of the product and inspection of plant sanitation.
- Work with customer and FSIS Inspector for current and new product label(s) approval.
- Ensure the USDA regulatory requirements for Food Safety are continuously and successfully met.
- Organize and maintain FSQA documents, procedures and supervise FSQA Team.
- Conduct shelf-life study for new products and ingredients.
- Work closely with third party sanitation teams for SSOP implementation.
- Guide the development, implementation and compliance of all HACCP programs.
- Evaluate current Food Safety programs to established standards and adjust programs to conform with regulatory changes or internal modifications ensuring conformance is relevant.
- Able to investigate a product/process failure, determine the root cause and take prompt corrective actions.
- Implement and develop necessary sanitation verification activities.
- Develops and fosters a strong working relationship with the USDA/FSIS.
- All other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field.
- Five (5) years’ experience in food industry quality assurance or related experience.
- Progressive knowledge and experience with government regulations. (FDA, USDA, Food Defense, Food Code & Crisis Management).
- Certifications: HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation and GMP.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and management.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
