Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Controller

Management

  • Performance of all financial operations including the production of monthly financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls, ensure accuracy of the organization’s financial results, and ensure that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Performance or supervision of all accounts receivable and accounts payable duties.
  • Overseeing all accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate general accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

Transactions

  • Oversight or entry of all customer sales orders, assuring all prices are correct, working with production and customers to set shipping dates.
  • Oversight or entry of all accounts receivables invoices promptly as orders are shipped
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly Sales Reports.
  • Ensuring that accounts payable invoices are supported by purchase orders, receiving reports as appropriate; are verified, approved, and entered in the accounting system; are charged to the appropriate accounts, paid in a timely manner; invoices are marked “paid” and appropriately filed in the accounting files.
  • Maintaining control of and issuing of accounts payable checks.
  • Approving semi-monthly payroll; preparing and entering related journal entries. Overseeing employee payroll records; entering new employees into the payroll system and the time reporting system; updating payroll records and calculating final paycheck for terminated employees.

Reporting

  • Recording all necessary journal entries in accounting software, including monthly and year-end closing entries.
  • Reconciling all balance sheet, income, and expense accounts monthly.

  • Maintaining an adequate system of internal controls.
  • Preparing and maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

Audit and Tax Returns

  • Coordinating the timing of the annual audit/review and working with auditors to satisfy all requirements.
  • Preparing all account reconciliations, analyses and documentation requested by the auditors.
  • Preparing and or reviewing year-end financial statements, including all footnote disclosures required by generally accepted accounting principles.

Inventory

  • Weekly reconciliation of inventory shipped, and inventory received.
  • Monthly audit and entry of physical inventory counts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Human Resource

  • Manages and oversees the recruiting process for open positions. Ensures positions are posted according to procedures, coordinates advertising and negotiates contracts with placement agencies as needed.
  • Reviews resumes, screens applicants and shares results with management. Performs phone interviews and in person interviews. Summarizes and reviews interview results with Management Team.
  • Ensures health and welfare benefit plans are updated annually and changes are communicated with employees. Responds to questions and issues and forwards inquiries to the TPA’s as necessary.
  • Reports all injuries to the state of Ohio.
  • Investigates and resolves employee issues including discrimination complaints, conflict resolution, harassment investigations, wage complaints, employee disputes, attendance issues, employee policy complaints, and general issues.
  • Oversees payroll, addresses concerns and ensures payrolls are handled effectively and timely.
